ABSTRACT

There is little doubt that general practitioners are playing an increasing part in advising patients about birth control.

Eighty-two per cent said they spent more time discussing this than they did five years ago. Most of them, 78 per cent,

agreed that this was an appropriate task for general practitioners; some did relatively little and that rather reluctantly,

and about one per cent refused to have anything to do with it. There is still plenty of scope for extending their role in
