As oral contraceptives influence the function of the Beta cells of the insulin apparatus of the pancreas, it is believed
that they could aid in the development of sugar diabetes. This activity is noted most often in woman with a hereditary
burden of diabetes, with preliminary signs of diabetes, or in women with weight problems. For this reason it is
necessary to determine the oral tolerance to glucose and its character. In the case of necessary application of oral
contraceptives, preparations should be used with the slightest damaging effects on the carbohydrate metbolism, and
a diet should be observed that will not disturb the function of the Beta cells. (PubHealth.info Document ID: CONT8T
