ABSTRACT

2 cases of ectopic pregnancy occurred among the authors' patients taking Nacenyl, a progestin minipill containing

chlormadinone. The first woman aged 39 had taken Nacenyl for less than a year and presented with pain and

changes in her regular menstrual flow. She had a latero-uterine mass of the left which was diagnosed as rupture of

tubal pregnancy by celioscopy, laparotomy and histology. 7 days after surgery she had a pulmonary embolism

associated with an ilio-pelvic thrombophleb itis. The second women was a 31-year old mother of 4 who complained

of pain and metrorrhagia. She had a retroverted uterus fixed on the right and a painful mass the size of a green

walnut, but a negative Pregnosticon test. Celioscopy confirmed the mass and laparotomy revealed several

adhesions around a hemosalpinx, freed with difficulaty from the sigmoid colon and the bladder. Histologically, an

ectopic pregnancy was seen developing outside the tube. (PubHealth.info Document ID: CONT8T 4039-06)
