ABSTRACT

The Patients Association of the DHSS firmly opposes the sale of oral contraceptives without prescription in Great

Britain. The association c ites numerous medical references in support of their position. It would not oppose,

however, the use of specially trained nurses and midwives to give repeat prescriptions if the initial examination of the

patient had been carried out by a doctor, the nurses remained under the supervision of the doctor, and the doctor

retained responsibility for the patient. (PubHealth.info Document ID: CONT7T 3003-06)
