PubHealth.info®
(a subsidiary of
PakMed) presents scientific information mainly
based on abstracts of articles published on a variety of public health issues/topics,
particularly encompassing
population planning, disease prevention, maternal and child health,
and communicable and
non-communicable diseases (like HIV AIDS, malaria, etc) that are
affecting a significant portion of population in developing and
developed
countries. Here you can find abstracts of articles published on a variety of public health
topics under category "Contraception
(Birth Control) and Family Planning".
Contraception (birth control)
is a regimen of one or more actions, devices, or medications followed in
order to deliberately prevent or reduce the likelihood of a woman
becoming pregnant or giving birth. Therefore contraception is the
utilization of various and sundry surgical procedures, devices,
practices, agents, or drugs with the intention of preventing conception
or impregnation (pregnancy). Methods and intentions typically termed
birth control may be considered a pivotal ingredient to family
planning. Birth control is a controversial political and ethical
issue in many cultures and religions, and although it is generally less
controversial than abortion specifically. |

Contraception (Birth Control) and Family Planning |
Family planning evaluation using census, vital and program statistics.
In: Udry, J. R. and Huyck, E. E., eds. The demographic evaluation of domestic
family planning programs. Proceedings of a research workshop. Belmont
Conference Center, Elkridge, Maryland, May 7-9, 1973. Cambridge,
The data on areal units and the multivariate analyses necessary to assess the effect of organized family planning
programs are discussed. For each county the number of women 15-49 by selected poverty intervals, race, marital
status, are broken out and fertility measure compute. From vital statistics the 1969 natality and mortality tapes will be
merged with the 1970 census county information. Other figures essential for calculation of reliable fertility rates for
subgroups, smaller counties, and such will be obtained. The analysis of program effects will follow rather detailed
analysis of the interrelationships that may affect fertility. Since it will be impossible to specify in advance the exact
statistical method for multivariate analysis without a clear idea of these relationships, this preliminary work must be
done before the main analysis can begin. (PubHealth.info Document ID: CONT7T 2574-06)
