ABSTRACT

Increased adolescent sexuality, unwanted adolescent pregnancies, premature marriages, and venereal disease are

characteristic of the times. This situation is partly due to the decreased effectiveness of the family as a positive

value-instilling institution. Families have particular problems in transmitting sexual information and a sense of

sexual responsibility. A joint project by Planned Parenthood of Snohomish and the City of Everett, Washington, was

designed to help families in the area of sexual development and responsibility. The classes are staffed by 4 people,

experts in at least 1 of the following: counseling, group dynamics, parent education, and sexuality. After a poorly

attended pilot project, the program was revised. More advertising will be done. Each class will be independent, with

the topic advertised beforehand. Evaluation of the classes will be conducted. (PubHealth.info Document ID:
