utilization of various and sundry surgical procedures, devices,
practices, agents, or drugs with the intention of preventing conception

Contraception (Birth Control) and Family Planning |
Natural family planning is the way to go.
International Review of Natural Family Planning. 1983;7(3):190-9.
Pastoral and theological issues in natural family planning (NFP) include: 1) dignity of the person and of human
sexuality; and 2) the centrality of the family. Explanations by Pope John Paul II to various NFP groups are discussed.
The Pope stresses that there are different methods of natural family planning. Teaching of NFP must remain true to
the Church's teaching on marriage, sexuality, and birth control. The Pope also urged all groups to try to work
together. Cardinal Cooke also summarizes the accomplishments of the Diocesan Program of NFP including the
appointment of ISI coordinators, interest by Catholic hospitals, publication of teaching materials, a central
Washington consultation office established, new sex education programs, and continuous education for priests.
