practices, agents, or drugs with the intention of preventing conception
or impregnation (pregnancy). Methods and intentions typically termed

In early 1991, the Polish Ministry of Health introduced two measures making oral contraceptives more difficult to
obtain. First, it withdrew four brands of oral contraceptives from the market on health grounds, citing the risk of side
effects due to the high dosage of hormones in the contraceptives. Second, it withdrew financial subsidies from other
brands of oral contraceptives, resulting in their being sold at their full price. (PubHealth.info Document ID: CONT3T
